You looked up and saw a silhouette, but a flickering ceiling light blurred your vision, you got to your feet. Nobody there.
You swirled around. Something had touched your hand; somebody had to be here…
“H-Hello? Ghosts? Monsters? Creepy library murderer…” You stepped back and hit something… It said ‘Ow.’
You froze, and turned around… The next thing you saw was red. A red maple leaf, on a jacket. The jacket of the guy you were now awkwardly hugging.
You jumped back, your face redder than his jacket, you stuttered a bit.
“Uh… I-I’m sorry… I didn’t s-see you there…” You calmed yourself down and faced the cause of your surprise.
He was only a tad taller than you, wearing jeans and a bright red sweatshirt with a maple leaf on the front. He had blonde hair with a curious little curl coming out the top, and he had glasses that his spectacular blue eyes you could get lost in. You must have been staring because he started to blush…
“Oh, uhh… My name is ________… I didn’t see you there…” You managed to stutter out. He chuckled, looking juts as nervous as you.
“Oh, I’m Matthew… Most people don’t see me either… I didn’t mean to scare you.”
You smiled politely. And suddenly realized you had lost the book you reached for…
“Oh, ______... Is this what you are looking for?” Matthew extended the book toward you. You read the title again: “Canada’s hidden history.”
“Thank you!” You took the book from him and flipped through its pages.
“D-do you have an interest in Canada?” Matthew asked shyly, as you gathered up your things and you both walked back to the receptionist’s desk.
“Oh yes! It’s one of my favorite countries! I love everything about it…” You handed the book to the lady at the desk.
“R-really? Like what? Not many people know a lot about Canada…”
You sifted through your bag for your library card and your (h/c) hair fell in front of your face. You gave the card to the lady and looked back at him; your (e/c) eyes met his.
“I think there is just so much about Canada people don’t know, and they just don’t take the time to get to know it…” You took the book and card back from the lady and walked toward the door. Matthew followed.
“W-wow… That’s a good way of seeing it…” Matthew seemed surprised that you had even heard of the country…
You were about to ask him something when you heard a loud honk from a car. A big red white and blue Mustang pulled up to the front of the library, and a man that looked surprisingly like Matthew jumped out.
“Yo bro! Time to go! You get anything good?” He stopped and saw you, looking you over. “Hmm… Looks like it…” He smirked cockily at you, you shot him a glare. Matthew pushed his brother aside.
“Don’t mind him _____... Um… So, can I talk to you again maybe?” He rubbed the back of his head nervously; his brother giving you thumbs up.
You smiled and wrote it down on a bookmark. Matthew took it from you and kept it in his jacket, making sure his nosy brother didn’t see.
As they both drove away, you barely caught their conversation:
“Dude! She’s a hottie! Did she get lost in the library? She doesn’t look like the nerdy type…”
“Shut up Alfred! I like her the way she is… She’s sweet and smart.”
“Dude, she sounds like candy to me…”
“No.”
“But maybe she would like to get to know me better…”
“Over my dead body.”

You loved your friends. You really did. But it annoyed you to no end when they would constantly bring up your lack of a love life. Why were you required to have a boyfriend or, at the very least, a love interest? Why couldn't you be happy being single?
Sighing ruefully, you had to admit. You did get jealous of them and their boyfriends sometimes. But it's not like being single was the end of the world!
You muttered darkly to yourself about stupid friends, your current status as a "forever alone-r," and not having a giant cake of chocolate to drown yourself in. Because giant chocolate cake solves all of the problems, ever. But since you didn

Matthew smoothed out the corners of the photo lovingly, pinning it up in his locker and giving it a gentle kiss. He looked it over carefully with purple eyes. It was his favorite one of the millions he’d snapped over the years. He could remember the day he took it like it was yesterday…

“N-No, Matthew! Please… I don’t want you to take my picture. I always look horrible in them.” (f/n) held her hand out so it covered her face from the camera’s sharp view.
“That’s a lie. You could never look bad.” Matthew turned pink at his own brave remark and hid his face behind the camera,

Nostalgia was hitting you hard. You were starting to run out of room for things in your apartment and had decided that it was probably about time you gutted the place. You just hadn’t realized that you would basically be reliving your whole life while you were at it.
And so here you were, playing old video games, reading old books, messing around with old toys, and pushing off actually getting rid of anything. You had to wonder how you managed to forget about half of this stuff. You’d had such awesome toys as a kid! Part of you really wanted to keep all of this so you could show your kids whenever you had some. But you also knew
